Your future duties and responsibilities:

The Unix System Administrator will assist in data migrations from older systems to be consolidated storage environments and assist in the data collection associated with the Storage Allocation Request (SAR) system and will verify storage usage between allocation versus used.

Your future duties and responsibilities

  • Assist in day-to-day operations of the xSTOR and content transfer environments

  • Will be responsible for monitoring Ticketing system (Foot Prints) for tickets related to xSTOR and content transfer environments

  • Submit JIRA tickets to Change Control Board related to xSTOR and content transfer environments

  • Maintain a Wiki ‘How To’ pages on internal Confluence under the ‘Storage Environment Notebook’ area

  • Manage daily content migrations between Long-term storage

  • Assist in monthly storage usage statistics gathering

  • Assist in gathering information from current systems and collating that data with available SAR information

Assist in the xSTOR and content transfer environments across three data centers. This includes the following components:

  • Ingest platforms (13 physical and 2 virtual servers and associated storage)

  • Content Transfer Services environments (3 virtual servers)

  • Processing Services environments (25+ virtual servers)

  • Long-term storage environment (6+ physical servers, 5 tape libraries and associated disk storage)

  • Static Storage environment (11 physical servers and associated storage)

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

  • Two (2) or more years of experience in Information Technology in a Unix environment

  • Experience analyzing server logs to isolate impact in a helpdesk environment

  • Experience in RedHat 6.x and 7.x (or other Fedora kernel derivative [Fedora, CentOS, Scientific, etc…])

  • Scripting knowledge in one or more of the following languages; Shell (bash, zsh, etc), Perl, Python

  • Experience with RedHat LVM to create and increase file systems

  • Use on Microsoft products (Excel, Word and Visio)

Desired:

  • Knowledge of IBM SpectraScale and LTFS EE is a plus (will train as needed)

  • Knowledge of Oracle Hieratical Storage Management (OHSM) (will train as needed)

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

  • Prior experience working for a federal client
