Position Description:

Sr. technical developer to modernize the integration and delivery systems for strategic and innovative government clients. Our client’s mission is to “serve, aid, and protect the citizens on California.” This role requires a highly self-motivated individual capable of working independently in a rapidly evolving technical environment. The ideal candidate will have prior team leadership and mentoring background.

CGI is looking for a senior level technical developer with a minimum of 7+ years of IT experience, working on Software Development Lifecycle, Web Application development. This resource must be able to build, maintain, automate, monitor upgrade and test DevOps (CI/CD) pipeline tools and environments. Pairs with team members to teach cloud-native development best practices. The candidate must be a self-starter that takes initiative to understand and validate the behavior of tools, best practices, industry trends and features DevOps teams need and utilize. Candidate needs to have a strong sense of ownership, passion to provide a great customer experience, excellent troubleshooting skills in situations that require a sense of urgency.

Our client’s digital transformation will require close collaboration with agile teams, client product owners, and third parties. These initiatives will have a lasting positive impact, enhancing the citizen experience and managing costs. You will be challenged to integrate several complex components using both modern and legacy technologies. You will collaborate with skilled colleagues to help in the development of this solution.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

• Expert in design, implementation and support of efforts to utilize containers and automate operation processes

• Provide operations engineering for the DevOps tool chain

• Work with DevOps Architects to design test environments and production environment for CI/CD tools

• Enable development teams to leverage the build and release tool chain

• Support CI/CD strategy with stakeholders across various development, operations and quality teams

• Leverage your exceptional ability and motivation to solve problems and learn fast

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

• Interested in the mission of making government services better for people who need them most.

• Experience writing test-driven software development.

• Experience with development languages, such as Java, Spring Boot, .NET and with other application frameworks, techniques and tools, such as Spring Cloud Services.

• Experience in or knowledge of cloud-native development and agile development methodologies.

• Experience writing Rest APIs and microservices-based applications.

• Knowledge of system integrations with platforms, such as NoSQL db, Redis Cache, and S3.

• Understanding of cloud platforms and providers, such as Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure.

• Experience working with government and commercial clouds.

• Knowledge of CI/CD tools including Jenkins, Concourse or others.

• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

• Good time management and organizational skills.

• Ability to work on challenging issues independently or in a team environment.

• Ability to pair with a customer’s development team and guide them on leading-edge technologies.

• Ability to learn and adapt quickly to new technologies and environments.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field, or equivalent experience.

• Eager in collaborating with others, receiving mentorship, and teaching others.

• Willing to participate in all aspects of software development. You plan, code, test, deploy, monitor, and fix bugs.

• Can write understandable, testable, and maintainable code.

• Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• You are familiar with and comfortable working in an Agile XP and TDD environment. (We don’t pair all the time, but we find it really helpful in lots of contexts!)

• You have personal experience with public health services, justice system, social safety net, pension, revenue collection, voter registration, workforce training, or other mission-relevant government services.
