Position Description:

CGI is seeking an experienced leader and Sr. Business Systems Analyst to successfully lead analysis and design activities in support of the delivery of a large scale system modernization initiative. As a Senior Business Systems Analyst, the ideal candidate brings proven leadership experience and the ability to thrive in a highly collaborative and fast-paced work environment.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned as needed):

Analysis

• Independently and proactively lead/facilitate efforts to identify opportunities to leverage technology to enable business success and alignment with strategic vision.

• Gather, evaluate, and document requirements for complex new systems or system enhancements based on business user input, technical requirements and constraints.

• Utilize Customer Experience and Design Thinking techniques to evaluate, analyze and streamline solution processes.

• Document requirements using Structured Analysis Techniques such as Use Cases, Entity Relationship Diagrams, Process Decomposition Diagrams, Workflows and Wireframes.

• Analyze proposed system changes to identify strategies for meeting business objectives and impacts, including costs and effort required to implement.

• Develop innovative strategies for meeting business requirements, including leveraging the capabilities of existing technology tools or acquiring/developing new technology tools.

• Present strategy and findings orally in meetings and presentations with key users and agency executives.

System Design

• Act as a liaison between the business partners and the technical staff.

• Design complex automated and manual solutions to solve business problems and achieve business objectives.

• Facilitate business owners and other technical staff in the development of innovative solution designs.

• Coordinate with business users, technical staff and Software Quality Assurance Manager to develop test data and test procedures to verify application functionality. Oversee testing within a given project.

• Monitor implementation activities and ensure appropriate user support is provided during production ramp-up

Technical Expertise and Guidance

• Apply a broad range of expertise of technology principles, best practices and procedures to the completion of difficult and complex assignments crossing multiple functional areas.

• Apply security best practices in accordance with internal Security policies.

• Apply comprehensive technical knowledge of software solutions analysis and design to the oversight of significant assignments, referring only the most complex technology issues to higher levels.

• Develop and document technology processes and methodologies.

• Use and promote the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodology and recommend changes as appropriate. Work with both business partners and technical staff on adherence to the SDLC methodology to ensure quality project deliverables.

Expert knowledge and experience in the following:

• The Software Development Life Cycle

• Agile Software Development Processes

• Business Systems Analysis and Design Techniques

Demonstrated ability to:

• Analyze complex processes and comprehend complicated materials and documentation.

• Research and gather data, compile results, and solve problems.

• Define user requirements and document user stories in an Agile environment (at least one year)

• Use of various analytical techniques including process flows, use cases and development of wireframes

• Design and develop solutions

• Prepare complex documents including general and detail design specifications

• Plan, organize, coordinate, assign, and schedule work of project team

• Successfully interact in a team environment

Demonstrated working knowledge of the following tools/technologies:

• Web-based systems and business support tools such as enterprise content management, knowledge support, data warehouse, report generation, etc.

• Quality Center

• Microsoft Windows Desktops and Servers

• Version One (preferred)

• SharePoint (preferred)

• Wireframe software (e.g. Balsamiq)

• General software development practices

• General IT security standards and practices

Education and/or Experience

Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in computer science or closely related field and 7 or more years of experience. Preferred experience includes 5 years of System Development Life-Cycle experience working with large, complex systems and two years’ experience organizing and coordinating multiple work assignments and priorities.
