Position Description:

​CGI has an immediate need for a Sr. Technology Engineer to join our financial services team in Reston, VA. This is an exciting full-time opportunity to work in a fast-paced team environment supporting one of the largest leaders in the secondary mortgage industry. We take an innovative approach to supporting our client, working side-by-side in an agile environment using emerging technologies.

Participate as a team member integrating and configuring application and infrastructure tools into enterprise monitoring systems to detect, correlate, and report faults. Candidate performs complex analysis, design, development, documentation, and unit testing.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

Develop interfaces across multiple management tools for the automated provisioning/de-provisioning of monitors for the centralized monitoring system. Work closely with business application groups to understand and prioritize their requirements. Ability to leverage API interfaces to support streamlined integration across various platforms.

Configure high availability and failover for HUB TEMS, ITM Data Warehouse Proxy agents and new web servers for ITM Log agent configuration. Update and integrate ITM Agent bundles with relevant tools (puppet). Develop, Test and implement solution for automated provisioning of monitors in ITM. Create/update all support documentation and knowledge transfer specific to managing ITM framework.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

Minimum 8 years of experience as a systems engineering or developer

High level of interpersonal communication (verbal and written).

Direct experience with Enterprise Monitoring systems.

Programming and scripting:

Required: PERL programming using DBI interface to pull/push data from/to oracle database

Required: Working knowledge on UNIX & Windows platform with command line tools and batch/shell programming.

Desirable: PL/SQL programming knowledge

Desirable: SNMP; MIB-II

Enterprise monitoring and management technologies:

• Required: IBM Tivoli Monitoring and Netcool Omnibus and Probes

• Desirable: HP Sitescope and Topaz

Other Tools and technologies

• Required: Working knowledge on Windows, SUSE/Redhat Linux, Solaris, Oracle

• Required: Microsoft Office tools (Project, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word).

• Desirable: Strong working knowledge of TCP/IP, Network routing/firewalls and SNMP Management Protocols.

Personal Skills:

Strong technical hands-on experience. Demonstrated problem-solving skills and persistence. Ability to understand strategic direction and target architecture. Ability to understand cross-platform distribution/migration processes, and to document, develop and implement more efficient and reliable procedures.

Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills and ability to apply them appropriately in gathering requirements and making recommendations. Ability to develop a strong business relationship with individuals on the project team, partners and customers. High level of interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict management skills. Strong interest in learning new technologies and sharing knowledge with the team.

Bachelor's in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
