POSITION DESCRIPTION

The self-motivated person who fills this position will be joining and contributing to a dynamic and determined team that will be assisting a local Southern California public sector client to successfully transform how they provide services to their respective clients. This digital transformation initiative will involve close collaboration with the client to architect, design, and develop a secure, user-centric, and mission-critical solution that will involve multiple teams that will organized to meet the client’s needs through a fast-paced agile development approach within an heterogeneous DevOps environment. The transformative nature (anecdotally considered the “Uber” of the client’s business domain) and success of this project epitomizes an evolutionary disruption in our client’s industry that will likely be adopted by others. More importantly, this initiative will have a lasting positive impact on enhancing the citizen experience.

You will have the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues across the country in different groups to help in the development of this solution. This critical client initiative must integrate several complex components using modern and disparate technologies (hardware and software), some implemented by other third parties, securely and with the highest quality to address regulatory and compliance requirements.

Seeking a Senior Technical/Solutions Architect with consulting experience to assist in the architecting and design of an expansive solution to realize our client’s transformative vision. The candidate will work on nearly all aspects of the solution and work closely with many internal and external groups within an agile development environment. The candidate must have deep experience in working with different enterprise-scale technologies to architect and develop a pragmatic, scalable solution that addresses the client requirements. In keeping with an enterprise solution, the architect must be experienced in architecting a high-performing system that maintains quality service delivery in a high-volume processing environment that must be implemented on-time and within budget.

The Senior Technical/Solutions Architect will collaborate with different teams in an agile development and must provide architecture and design leadership across these teams consisting of CGI peers and client participants. This role requires in-depth technical architecture and systems integration experience with the ability to understand business problems, analyze complex issues, architect viable solutions, promote simplification and reuse, and communicate with executives using business terms. Must have demonstrated success in facilitating client needs into effective business solutions. Must be extremely experienced in risk management. The technical/solutions architect is a visionary senior technical leader with 20+ years of proven technical solution architecture experience for strategic initiatives and enjoys meeting challenges directly that result in successful outcomes for our clients.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE

  • Ability to translate client requirements, regulatory, and other constraints into pragmatic solution architectures and designs for large, complex client initiatives

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in technical development of IT applications, including knowledge in:

  • Minimum of 7 years in a lead technical architect role for IT projects:

  • At least two IT projects with 30 or more team members across multiple agile teams

  • Ability to build trust and communicate with all management levels including client executives and be viewed by the client as a trusted advisor and by team members as a high performing contributor and mentor

  • Hands on experience successfully implementing and/or leveraging the following technologies, processes and tools:

  • Design of secure integration of multiple solution components (internal and external) leveraging leading practices (e.g., RESTful services) commensurate with client and regulatory requirements within a heterogeneous environment, some air-gapped for security

  • Understanding of device level architectural design and implementation consistent with geographically deployed kiosk-type solutions that involve sensors, scanners, printers, and other peripherals and must communicate securely with components deployed in air gapped external environments

  • Rapid use of POCs and POVs to improve decisions on architectural design and standards to reduce risk without impacting the project schedule

  • Expert in leading and coaching teams on Lean / Agile methodologies that deliver results based on agile workflows, open communication, and metrics driven processes.

  • Implementing a DevOps organization, processes and tools

  • Object Oriented Development using open source and commonly used frameworks

  • Leading development/test and quality management approaches including test-driven development (TDD), acceptance test-driven development (ATDD), and behavioral-driven development (BDD)

  • Architect/designing of both front-end user experience components integrated with back-end processing components consistent with complex, mission critical systems

  • Working understanding of legal and effective use of open source licensed software including benefits and risks and long-term ramifications (e.g., maintenance, future-use implications, distribution restrictions)

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS/NON-ESSENTIAL SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Device level architectures and development approaches (e.g., Yocto Project implementations, kiosks)

  • Familiar with adherence to cybersecurity requirements (e.g., NIST, PCI DSS)

  • Java frameworks

  • General state & local government experience

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills:

  • Ability to present to different levels of client stakeholders including executive levels
