The ideal candidate for this Entry Level Technical Editor/Writer position is a creative-thinker who is very detail oriented. He/She thrives in a fast paced and ever changing environment that requires focus on continuous improvement. The individual selected for this role will be actively encouraged to develop their skills and knowledge through both internal and external professional development opportunities which enable them to progress their career within CGI.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

• Determine the needs of end users of release documentation.

• Organize and write supporting documents for the solutions developed.

• Review materials submitted by other teams for style, clarity, punctuation, grammar, and content.

• Edits, rewrites and authenticates technical user manuals, application papers, product descriptions, data sheets, specification books, and etc.

• Use photographs, drawings, diagrams, animation, and charts that increase users’ understanding.

• Select appropriate medium for message or audience, such as manuals or online videos.

• Improves editorial and visual standards for documents and recommends new designs, layouts and procedures as needed.

• Standardize content across platforms and media.

• Study product samples and/or conducts interviews with various users and technical staff to gather data for documentation.

• Work with technical staff to make products easier to use and thus need fewer instructions.

• Gather usability feedback from customers, designers, and others to improve user experience.

• Produces products that conform to the company documentation and quality assurance standards.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications or a related field.

• Strong computer and word processing skills, in addition to writing, editing, proofreading, and page composition skills.

• A great attitude and hunger for learning

• Excellent analytical, written and oral communication skills

• Flexibility and ability to deal with ambiguity

• Ability to work within a team environment
