Position Description:

CGI is seeking an Azure SQL Database Administrator to provide technical expertise in designing, managing, and administering databases in Azure. You will engage in modernization activities to migrate databases to Azure and provide ongoing DBA support.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

• Ensure high availability and optimal performance of production databases hosted in Azure.

• Ensure proper hardware resources are allocated to the databases for purposes of high resilience and performance tuning.

• Proactively monitor the database systems and suggest performance improvements.

• Ensure that solution exhibits high levels of performance, security, scalability, maintainability, appropriate reusability, and reliability upon deployment.

• Responsible for troubleshooting and problem solving SQL database issues.

• Assist developers to optimize, tune and enhance database queries.

• Design, develop, optimize, and execute planned and adhoc SQL for enhancements and information gathering.

• Participate in implementations of database architectural changes to make database infrastructure highly scalable and optimized.

• Participate with the team's On-call/Off-hours rotation.

• Involved in the design process with Client, DevOps, and other technical teams to implement solutions.

• Liaise with managers and staff of application and development teams to ensure consistent application of the tactical and strategic directions of the client.

• Meeting and exceeding SLAs.

• Prepared for advancing technology.

• Effective patch management and upgrade management.

• Lead/participate in database migrations, audits and version upgrades.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

Experience in following technologies:

Azure SQL DB

Azure Cloud


Managing PaaS resources in Azure

Understanding and ability to work with Infrastructure as code, CI/CD Pipelines, Azure Resource Manager




Est. Salary Range (Colorado Only): $75K-$125K*
