CGI Federal is seeking a Computer Specialist with an Active Top Secret clearance to support the FBI/FLSD in Huntsville, AL.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
Serve as a specialist, independently or as a team member, undertaking system design studies involving the development, modification, maintenance, and evaluation of Information Technology (IT) Systems.
Perform studies to research, analyze, design, implement, and test IT systems for administrative, clerical, investigative, technical, and scientific areas within the agency. Determine whether it would be cost effective to automate previously manual systems, modify large record keeping systems, or create new systems capable of enhancing current system performance. In this regard, research the success of approaches used in comparable projects within and outside the agency, consider the impact of such proposals on IT staff resources, consult with other IT personnel regarding impact proposals have on other IT areas, and determine possible conflicts or interrelationships with other systems. Program, test, document, and implement system modifications and proposals. Assist end-users in one or a variety of subject-matter fields in deciding which processes to automate; how to select equipment and software; how to use available technology; and whether and how to network, Work with end-users to understand the work environment and to determine requirements. Identify issues and problems. Conduct analysis of current systems to determine the feasibility of new or modified IT. Review and suggest equipment and software; assist in set-up, testing and training for subject -matter specialists and support personnel; provide for passwords or other security controls, data base development, and the ability to expand systems; review, test, and select commercially available software; resolve equipment and software questions; and, resolve other IT problems including telecommunications issues. Ensure end-users understand all the issues involved with IT objectives including system compatibility issues.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
Broad knowledge of computer technology, systems life cycles (i.e., systems design, design development, and configuration management), automated and manual information processing systems, data sources, data flow, and interaction of existing IT systems to identify, define, forecast, analyze, and research a variety of IT systems; to discern solutions to problems; to provide audit capabilities and ensure the security and soundness of IT systems; to provide director with regard to IT systems; and to and project overall IT needs.
Thorough knowledge of project management, planning, and management control techniques as well as resource estimation and cost benefit analysis techniques relative to project management functions.
Effective formal oral and written communication skills to interact with others, prepare reports, and make presentations to management.
Ability to tactfully provide leadership and guidance and obtain cooperative support in order to carry out IT projects, goals, and initiatives.
Must have an active Top Secret clearance.
Must be able to pass a CGI Federal background check.
Travel: May be required to support moves, migrations, and/or multi-location systems installation.
Physical Demands: The work is non-sedentary. Incumbents are required to be on their feet for long intervals, regularly crawl, crouch, kneel, climb ladders, lift, and move up to 50 lbs.
Work Environment: The work is performed in a Data Center environment. Special safety precautions and proper PPE are required.
