Position Description:

CGI Federal is seeking a Budget Specialist to support DOJ’s Executive Office for Immigration Review-AD in Falls Church, VA.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

• Responsible for working with customers, peers, and management to accurately identify, document, and track budget execution. Provides periodic briefings to customers and sound recommendations for resource usage. Ensures customers stay within their approved authority.

• Uses financial models to provide budget forecasting and to estimate future needs accurately.

• Generates reports from the DOJ financial system to track expenses to ensure that funds are not overspent, and financial goals are met. Provides regular progress reports to the budget team supervisor to ensure that everything is on track.

• Works with customers, peers, and OBFM leadership to identify and consolidate component budget execution requirements. Expediently communicates any issue with customer and helps resolve the issue timely.

• Reviews and maintains customer budget execution plans to ensure accuracy throughout the fiscal year. Monitors obligations and expenditures for availability and accuracy within the DOJ financial system and that these actions are aligning to the approved budget execution plan.

• Maintains obligation and document control registers (CUFF record) to monitor, reconcile, and control obligations for accuracy and validity.

• Identifies discrepancies between the DOJ financial reporting system, reports, and or problems associated with DOJ financial system transactions. Ensures problems are resolved in an expedited manner.

• Identifies, communicates, and implements quality improvements. Prepares special studies and analyses as necessary, including analysis of alternatives and recommendations.

• Maintains all financial and budgeting records, including reports, audits, and other financial documents per OBFM records management guidance.

• Assists the finance team with compliance checking for various expenditure categories, financial regulations, and internal policies during internal audits and the quarterly undelivered obligation verification deliverable.

• Enters and processes various financial documents and transactions, such as commitments and reimbursable obligations, which will be recorded in the DOJ financial system.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

• Must have relevant finance/budget experience

• Must be able to successfully pass a CGI Federal background investigation

• Must be able to obtain/maintain a DOJ MRPT clearance

Hourly Rate: $35.64/hour

CGI is required by law in some jurisdictions to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The determination of this range includes various factors including but not limited to: skill set level; experience and training; and licensure and certifications. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
