Are you looking for an exciting role as the Manager of a multi-disciplinary team of technical staff? Looking to oversee and support enterprise applications and networks that span from one side of the country to the other? If you do, this role as an Operations Manager might be for you. The right person will have a technical background while comfortable managing and directing staff. They will also have a strong drive to achieve and maintain operational excellence in an enterprise environment.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
Day to day management of a team of technical staff
Manage work assignments and escalations to ensure issues are addressed in a timely manner
Maintain an effective on-call schedule to address service outages as they arise
Define and execute on a plan to modernize and automate existing tasks so that staff can focus their time on more complex assignments
Provide regular reports on current and historical status
The individual would be responsible for managing one mid-size group that is comprised of three main areas of responsibility (total of 10-15 people):
Systems Operations – Responsible for the day to day care and administration of a largely Windows based environment. Largely virtualized with VMware and Dell & EMC storage.
Network Operations – Day to day care and administration of a largely Cisco environment, routing, switching, wireless, LAN, WAN, & SD-WAN.
Voice Operations – Care and administration of a Cisco based IP phone and voicemail system.
This staff is primarily located in Fairfax, VA and a small group in Lafayette, LA.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
Bachelors degree plus 10 years of experience or equivalent experience in lieu of education
Prior management of technical staff
Experience in IT Management - supporting enterprise systems and infrastructure
Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks
Comfortable with the deployment of new technologies and systems and taking ongoing ownership
Experience working in a large corporate environment
Experience in managing a geographically disperse team
Technical expertise in either systems administration or enterprise networking a plus
Strong communication skills in order to effectively communicate with large groups of end users
