CGI Federal has an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Network Engineer. In this position you will work with multiple IT disciplines in shaping, executing and sustaining the Cloud/Hosting strategy for a shared service platform focused on identifying and mitigating a wide range of cyber risks. You will work closely with the Cloud Architecture team to support the client’s mission, priorities, and unique challenges to deliver next generation security solutions and technologies
This position is located in our Fairfax, VA office; however, a hybrid working model is acceptable.
You will be required to be in our Fairfax, VA office two days per week.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
• Help design and engineer connectivity to public cloud providers utilizing technologies such as AWS Direct Connect, Azure ExpressRoute, Google Dedicated Interconnect, or Oracle FastConnect or the equivalent VPN based connection methods
• Work on network infrastructure projects to configure routing and switching elements including designing and troubleshooting
• Support successful project deliveries and change implementations
• Conduct research and reviews the design and implementation of network infrastructure components to validate standards and SLA compliance
• Perform analysis of reported outage events to determine potential impact on the in-place network infrastructure and architecture
• Produce configuration documentation of task level Network engineering specifications, diagrams, and configurations
• Participates in and suggests improvements to standards configuration, change management processes, and practices
• Develop test plans, implementation plans, and project timelines for various projects and tasks
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
• Due to the nature of the contract requirements, US citizenship and successful passing of CGI background check is required prior to beginning work. In addition, candidates must have ability to obtain and maintain a DHS EOD/Public Trust clearance
• 5+ years of experience as a Network Engineer with 3 or more years in a hands-on role that implemented engineering standards, documented engineering designs, and participated in project cutovers
• Experience with various firewalls and VPNs, network forensics, deep packet inspection, network traffic analysis, and troubleshooting
• Experience with automating network functions through various tools
• Experience designing and/or implementing cloud-based and/or cloud-native solutions in production workloads
• Understanding of legacy networking routing protocols and the interaction with cloud interconnects
• 2+ years direct experience with Palo Alto firewalls
• 3+ years of experience with high availability planning, component redundancy design and implementation
• 2+ years of experience in designing large-scale enterprise network interconnectivity with cloud providers using standard best practices
• Experience with network load balancers, WAN optimizers and Network virtualization
Desired qualifications/non-essential skills required:
• Cloud certification
• Understanding of federal cybersecurity guidance such as NIST SP 800-37, Guide for Applying the Risk Management Framework to Federal Information Systems: a Security Life Cycle Approach and NIST 800-137, Information Security Continuous Monitoring (ISCM) for Federal Information Systems and Organizations.
• Experience with CISA’s Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation (CDM) program

The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and license and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $76,300.00 - $185,800.00.
