CGI is seeking a hands-on Senior Web Technologist/Architect to drive technical innovation within our Web and Portals project teams. This person understands all aspects of large scale data intensive Web/Mobile Application development from UI, Middle tier to database. Proven track record with proactive creative solutions and innovations is required. This is a senior level position based in Fairfax, VA. This person will be part of an agile, dynamic team in an environment where technology, innovation, and creativity are paramount. This position requires the person to be a hands-on developer and innovator who has capability to learn, evaluate and implement new technology very quickly.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
Research the latest digital technologies, software and trends and develop synergies for CGI and our customers use`
Ability to evaluate emerging technology options in the context of a broad business problem, implement prototypes using options, identify and perform trade-offs to recommend optimal solution. Ability to lead the team to develop a practical, maintainable, enterprise ready solution and a roadmap to achieve it
Infuse and foster innovation and creativity throughout the project team through brown bags sessions, presentations, mentoring, etc.
Represent CGI in innovation events, code-a-thons, hack-a-thons and develop innovative approaches to solve problems.
Conduct design and development of software to include prototypes, and modeling and simulation of system behaviors
Design next generation tooling and orchestration engines
Direct and/or perform integration of COTS and other existing code
Troubleshoot and resolve complex problems
Maintain current knowledge of relevant hardware and software applications
Participates in special projects
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
Real world experience and expertise in Web 2.0 technologies, architectures and protocols including REST/SOAP, JSON, JAX, JQuery.
Experience with Service Oriented Architecture governance and management.
Broad knowledge of open source frameworks, approaches and products in the areas of Big Data, non-SQL databases including concepts of map reduce, hives, etc.
Expertise and experience in at least one open source HTML 5 based mobile application platform like Phone Gap, Tiggr, Monotouch etc. including experience with JQuery Mobile and other Mobile UI libraries.
Experience with automation tools - Ansible playbook, Packer and Terraforms
Experience with logging/application monitoring tools (New Relic, Splunk, Nagios) and scripting(Bash, Shell, Ruby, Python, Perl, PowerShell)
Experience with AWS solutions and ability to provide AWS automation best practices
Hands-on experience and technical knowledge of DevOps technologies and best practices
Knowledge of emerging application and infrastructure trends and technologies
Experience with social media protocols including Facebook, twitter, Google, etc. a plus.
Experience working in an Agile environment

Strong track record of understanding and interest in current and emerging technologies demonstrated through training, job experience and/or industry activities

Demonstrated customer focus and evaluates decisions through the eyes of the customer, ability to promote and discuss ideas with customers and analyzes problems and solutions from customer viewpoint
Strong analytical skills, strong problem solving skills, communicates in a clear and succinct manner and effectively evaluates information/data to make decisions, anticipates obstacles and develops plans to resolve
Change oriented, actively generates process improvements, supports and drives change, and confronts difficult circumstances in creative ways
Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills and must be outgoing and proactive in order to accomplish tasks
