Position Description:

The Project Architect/Technical Lead is responsible for the end to end architecture and technical implementation of a $4M+ software project. The project will provide a new field crew application and updates to an existing Geospatial Work Management System to support the Management and Pole Inspection Business areas.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

Hands-on leadership position designing and delivering a solution that includes 3rd party vendor products and integrations to multiple back end systems.

Examines existing project design documentation, translates requirements and uses cases and drives the decomposition of high level design to detailed design.

Coordinates software configuration, integration development, and vendor technical activities.

Collaborates with the project manager, SMEs, application technical analysts, and enterprise architects.

This position requires excellent communication skills; both written and verbal.

This position is ultimately responsible for the overall solution architecture design and successful implementation of the solution into production.

These tasks include:

• Create detail level design for custom software integration solutions.

• Develop artifacts to be used in downstream SDLC phases.

• Review and obtain approval of design artifacts with technology Domain Leads and Enterprise Architecture Review Boards.

• Setup of test, development and production environments.

• Coordinate software installation and configuration.

• Provide leadership to in house and vendor technical resources, working with PM on suggested work assignments and leading team from design to solution.

• Serve as liaison to other teams involved in project, coordinating integration work.

• Work with Test Lead to coordinate environments and help coordinate technical resources to support testing activities.

• Work closely with PM, providing status updates on risks, issues and tasks completions.

• Coordinate technical aspects of deployment, including hardware installation, environment setup, production certification, and software deployment.

• Work with software vendors as needed to coordinate software deliveries, provide detailed information on bugs, etc.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

o Minimum 10 years experience creating high level design and solution architectures.

o Documented experience managing large, custom software development projects including GUI, database, and algorithm.

o Proven experience working with GIS solutions (GE Smallworld, ESRI).

o Proven experience with various enterprise application integration technologies, specifically ESB, SOAP/Webservice, and database integrations.

o Ability to coordinate with a dedicated enterprise integration team.

o Familiarity with data warehousing and business analytics.

o Ability to coordinate with a dedicated security team.

o Experience with data modeling.

o Experience in coordinating development/technical activities across a large organization

o Experience developing structured detailed designs and detailed test cases

o Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

o Experience developing solutions from Business driven requirements

o Experience with geospatial concepts and demonstrate work history with technologies such as SmallWorld, ESRI, or similar spatial oriented data repositories.

o Experience with ESRI 10.x application a plus (ArcMap, ArcGIS Server, Geoprocessing Models, and Arcpy)

o Working knowledge of Java based services; JavaScript, HTML5, and XML are a plus. o Knowledge of FME software and previous work experience building FME Workbench ETL is a plus

o Experience with scripting languages such as Python and Delphi a plus

o Experience working within the utility industry. Familiarity with Transmission and electric/gas Distribution area a plus.

o Familiarity with work management systems a plus. o Experience with mobile applications a plus
