Position Description:

As part of the Information Outsourcing (ITO) program for our client which provides critical services and support to meet the demands of the client, we are seeking a Micro Focus Cobol Analyst / Developer. CGI focuses on providing reliable and available information technology solutions to aid in ensuring that our client maintains decision advantage in performing all of its myriad missions.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

The candidate will support the migrated Legacy Mainframe Application System using Micro Focus 2.3.2 Cobol, hosted on a distributed Linux servers/Red Hat.

The Application is integrated with many internal IT systems including Web Service Data Transmission, Reporting applications and downstream processes.

Integration is performed using multiple methods including Web Services, proprietary data transfer protocols among others.

The individual will be expected to perform with limited supervision, to create and maintain full software development lifecycle business applications, such as: Codes, tests, debugs, and documents enhancements.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

o Ability to program using Micro Focus/COBOL. 2.3.2 Development Tool.

o Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems with strong debugging skills.

o Ability to complete tasks or project assignments with minimal supervision.

o Ability to estimate development effort based on documented business requirements.

o Ability to clearly communicate design decisions and tradeoffs.

o Ability to interact with business process stakeholders and understand and analyze business operational workflows and scenarios.

o Ability to understand and translate business needs to efficient technology solutions.

o Leadership skills and abilities to drive and coordinate technology team activities.

o Excellent analytical and problem analysis skills.

o Excellent organization skills to balance and prioritize work even with multiple concurrent assignments.

o Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as part of a team, and as team lead.

o Software development to a common coding, version control and architectural standard.

o Software quality concepts such documenting source code and software language specific code quality practices.

Experience:

o Experience working on IBM Mainframe and Micro Focus with IMS, COBOL and JCL

o Senior COBOL programming position – 5+ years

o Software project leadership experience – 3 years required; 5 years preferred.

o Experience with Unix/Linux Scripting, and command line Linux, Red Hat Linux.

o Experience working with end users to gather requirements and defining Business solutions – 3 years required; 5 years preferred.

o Experience in presenting design solutions to both business users and leaders – 3 years required; 5 years preferred.
