CGI Federal is seeking a Senior Cyber Engineer to join our dynamic team. The Senior Cyber Engineer supports the secure design, development, implementation, and support of cyber security technologies, controls, capabilities, and applications consistent with applicable security standards and practices.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
Serve as the security subject matter expert / architect when assessing, designing, implementing, administering, and maintaining enterprise security solutions in an environment subject to NIST special publications 800-53 and 800-171.
Evaluate the impact of proposed new or updated systems on existing security controls or the overall enterprise security posture
Respond to security-related problems or issues that cannot be resolved by the service desk or security analysts; assist in root cause analysis and restoration of operational services in response to computer security incidents or intrusions
Collaborate with other stakeholders to understand needs, evaluate risks, educate, and offer recommendations as related to security
Assist in validating that technical controls are operating as intended
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
5+ years full time experience as a security analyst, architect, or engineer
Ability to think strategically to effectively assess clients situation and assemble service solutions to meet client needs
Demonstrated ability to rationalize problems and use judgment and innovation to define clear and concise solutions
Ability to deal with aggressive timelines and the associated pressure
Ability to mentor junior team members
US Citizenship required
Solid knowledge and understanding of operating systems minimally including Microsoft Windows an Linux
Demonstrated experience in physical and virtual environments
Solid understanding and knowledge of vulnerability management
Solid understanding and knowledge of security threats, techniques, and landscape
Understanding and experience with common industry standards and guidelines, including the CIS Critical Controls and the CIS Benchmarks
Solid knowledge and understanding of identify and access management technologies and solutions, including but not limited to active directory, privileged account management, and multi-factor authentication
Demonstrated experience performing system, database, and application security design and configuration
One or more professional certification(s) in the following areas: information security, IT audit, network technologies, or related fields
Experience implementing, maintaining, or securing a wide variety of operating systems, databases, and other system software
Understanding of the security implications associated with mobile technologies and industrial control systems
Information security experience in the aerospace or defense industries
Bachelors or Master's Degree in a related field
