Position Description:

CGI is looking to hire a Database Developer to join our team in Atlanta! Primary responsibilities will be to design stable and reliable databases, according to our company’s needs. You'll be responsible for developing, testing, improving and maintaining new and existing databases to help users retrieve data effectively. As part of the IT team, you will work closely with developers to ensure system consistency. Designing, creating, and maintaining database driven reports. This position requires experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including SQL Server Reporting Services, SQL Server Integration Services and SQL Server Analysis Services. Your future duties and responsibilities:

• Design stable, reliable and effective databases

• Develop and implement database systems based on requirements

• Create complex functions, scripts, stored procedures and triggers to support application development

• Ensure data quality and integrity in databases

• Create and maintain SSIS packages, following best practices and source control

• Troubleshoot database related issues in a timely fashion

• Liaise with developers to improve applications and establish best practices for database design and development activities

• Optimize and maintain legacy systems

• Solve database usage issues and malfunctions

• Test databases and perform bug fixes

• Perform space management and capacity planning for database systems

• Ensure data back-up and archival on regular basis

• Prepare design specifications and functional documentations for assigned database projects

• Provide data management support to users

• Research and suggest new database products, services and protocols

• Evaluate existing database and recommend improvements for performance efficiency

• Develop security procedures to protect databases from unauthorized usage

• Develop technical and training manuals

• Monitor database performance, implement changes and apply new patches and versions when required

• Minimize database downtime and manage parameters to provide fast query responses


• Strong organization and planning skills

• Problem solving skills and ability to think algorithmically

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing

• Ability to work with various computer programs and systems

• Ability to build relationships at all levels

• Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information

• Ability to deal with ambiguity and manage changing priorities

• Ability to calculate figures, amounts, and apply concepts from basic algebra

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

• Proven work experience as a Database developer

• In-depth understanding of data management (e.g. permissions, recovery, security and monitoring)

• Hands on experience with ETL using flat files, custom files, SSIS, PowerShell, SQL

• Hands on experience with SQL Server

• Hands on experience with Azure SQL a plus.

• Hands on experience with SQL Integration Services

• Hands on experience with Reporting Services

• Experience with No-SQL databases a plus (MongoDB, CosmosDB, etc.)

• Experience with Azure Data Factory a plus

• Familiarity with database design, documentation and coding

• BS degree in a computer discipline or relevant experience
