Position Description:

CGI is looking for a hands-on Scrum Master with extensive Agile methodology experience to join our Emerging Technologies Practice (ETP). Successful candidate will be supporting one of our major programs while working in CGI’s office located in Crystal City, VA

The Scrum Master will guide project delivery teams through coaching and mentoring. As a Scrum Master, you will be responsible for coordinating the delivery of agile based activities and leading the development project team to implement iterative releases driven by the program. The Scrum Master will provide ‘change agent’ leadership in the area of agile best practices and transformation for the teams in the organization using the SAFe® Framework.

As a Scrum Master, you will lead one or more Agile teams collaborating with Release Train Engineer (RTE). You should have strong Agile Project Management experience to provide direct support in larger projects to drive Agile at an enterprise level.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

• Coach Agile teams with continuous process improvement of software delivery while implementing Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)

• Run daily standups and work closely with Release Train Engineer (RTE) on daily basis

• Instill Agile project management best practices including production impact analysis, risk management, cross-team interdependencies, release scheduling, scope definition, delivery objectives, quality standards, and user needs identification.

• Facilitate and document project and release planning, including participation in product vision and implementation, Scrum ceremonies, Scrum of Scrums, discovery, design, and other brainstorm meetings.

• Facilitate product owner input and team interactions. Ensure the communication of scope and requirements changes throughout the team, including sprint impact analysis.

• Support product owner in management of backlog, ensuring Scrum process standards, identification of stakeholders and stakeholder conditions of acceptance.

• Support product development by providing high level business analysis and development estimates, including coordination of multiple product analysis.

• Foster knowledge sharing and assist with creation and delivery of best practices documentation and training materials.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

  • Excellent oral, written and presentation skills

  • 5+ years working in Agile Methodologies

  • 3+ years of experience as a Scrum Master, working with one or more Agile Teams

  • Strong hands-on experience in JIRA, RALLY or other ALM tools administration

  • Experience in SAFe Agile Implementation

  • Demonstrates leadership and interpersonal skills to engage and motivate team members

  • Demonstrates initiative and strong attention to detail

  • Knowledge of Scrum, SAFe, Lean, XP, Kanban, DevSecOps and other Agile development techniques

  • Experience with customer-facing agile application development

  • Ability to understand and aggregate product knowledge, including execution to product roadmap

  • Strong emphasis on teamwork and close collaboration across all roles and functions

  • Ability to synchronize with non-technical teams to deliver product releases smoothly, and managing multiple projects simultaneously

  • Ability to work with vendors and stakeholders to identify project risks, constraints and dependencies

  • Solid technical background

  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) certification or SAFe Scrum Master (SSM) certification

  • BS in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or a related field


  • PMI-ACP® Certification

  • Experience with Scaled Agile (preferably SAFe) implementations

  • Background as a Software Developer in Agile environment

  • Experience working on a COTS implementation proje
